JOIN A STATEWIDE COALITION WORKING TO PRESERVE RICHMOND’S RIVERFRONT AND UNIQUE HISTORY

A coalition of citizens and organizations has formed to advance a vision for Richmond that includes a lively riverfront park along the James River east of downtown that connects with the African-American historic sites in Shockoe Bottom.

The Richmond City Council has allocated $500,000 for a Riverfront Study and $125,000 for Shockoe Bottom. The Shockoe Study is underway. The Riverfront Study is not. We believe it imperative that both occur together, as the information garnered from each will inform the other.

You can help in two ways:

1) Sign the petition at right urging our elected officials to proceed immediately with the Riverfront Study.

2) Read the vision (PDF) that so many of us share for our historic Downtown region. If you agree, please share it with groups or organizations with which you’re involved, and ask them to pass a resolution in support.

If you have questions or want to notify Scenic Virginia about an approved resolution of support, please contact us at email@scenicvirginia.org or (804) 643-8439.

START THE STUDY!

YES! We, the undersigned, urge Mayor Dwight Jones, Richmond City Council members, and others to take steps immediately to start the Riverfront Study process. Richmond’s future hangs in the balance.
